Endangering children: Monticello Boulevard
Officers responded to Family Dollar May 25 for a report of five children alone in a vehicle with the windows closed. Inside was an 11-month-old infant and four children between the ages of 2 and 9.
Their mother said she had left the children for a short time to go into the store to buy candy and bubblegum.
The children were not harmed, but the Euclid woman, 24, was cited for child endangerment. Officers later reported the incident to Cuyahoga County Child and Family Services.
Discharge of firearm: Warrensville Center Road
A Walmart employee reported May 28 that a man ran past her and shouted, “They shot me!” She said she had heard a loud noise just before the man ran past her.
Officers could not locate any injured people or a gun. They did locate bullet fragments and damage to concrete flooring in the store.
Theft: Warrensville Center Road
A Cleveland Heights woman, 18, was cited for theft at Walmart May 31 after failing to scan 21 items, valued at $170.
Neighbor trouble: Westdale Road
Two residents reported an ongoing problem with a neighbor’s dog June 2. They wanted all confrontations documented and said they would follow up with the police chief.
Receiving stolen property: Warrensville Center Road
Officers stopped a vehicle May 25 after it was reported that the occupants had been harassing young children and adults.
The vehicle, located in an apartment parking lot, was occupied by a Cleveland boy, 14, and two 16-year-old South Euclid girls. The boy attempted to flee the vehicle, which was found to have been stolen. All three involved are being charged in juvenile court for receiving stolen property.
Harassing communication: Colony Road
A resident reported June 1 that she was being harassed online. Officers advised the suspect to have no further contact with the woman.
Endangering child: Avondale Road
A resident requested June 2 that her 12-year-old grandson be removed from her home. Officers determined that it would be best to have the child removed from the home and placed in protective custody services.
Theft from vehicle: Warrensville Center Road
A man reported May 25 that a futon he had just purchased from Walmart had been stolen from the top of his vehicle. He had placed it on the vehicle and returned to the store to buy something to tie it down with. When he returned, it was gone.
Surveillance video showed that the occupant of an SUV pulled up next to his vehicle and removed the futon.
