Forecast: Less humid, but high fire danger - NBC2 News

NBC2 FIRE ALERT in effect for Saturday due to a high fire danger index in Lee County

Happy Saturday Southwest Florida! It’s a comfortable start to the morning with lower humidity, but since it will be breezy at times, and we are still dealing with dry conditions, a Fire Alert has been issued.

Even though today is the “official” start of rainy season, it won’t come with much rain. The May 15 start date for rainy season is much like the June 1 hurricane season start date: It’s a point on the calendar that climatologically coincides with the start of these events, but they can come before or after that date.

For this year, rainy season looks to have a later start as today will be mainly dry, other than a few isolated showers late in the evening. Otherwise expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, and highs near 90.

The first half of this upcoming week will have slightly lower humidity and mainly dry conditions. Starting Wednesday, and then into next weekend, expect a push of high moisture to create off and on areas of rain.

Keep coming back to your First Alert Forecast over the coming days so you know how to plan for the week ahead.
