STAMFORD — Several establishments have opened in the past few weeks or will soon launch at Stamford Town Center, helping the downtown mall to reduce its numerous vacancies.
• Jewelry designer Her Children, on the fourth floor of the mall
• Streetwear company CastleLife, on the fourth floor
• A Dance Space, a partnership between The Ballet School of Stamford and Parsons Dance company, on the fifth floor
• Electronics store Digital Habitat, on the fifth floor
Upcoming arrivals include:
• Italian linens seller Cittadini Linens, set to open during the holiday season on the fifth floor
• Homeware retailer Amara, set to open within the next few weeks on the fourth floor
• Mexican restaurant Puerto Vallarta, set to open next spring in the restaurant plaza at 230 Tresser Blvd.
• Brazilian steakhouse Terra Gaucha, set open next spring in the restaurant plaza
• Multi-purpose space The Living Room, set to open next summer on the fifth floor
Those new tenants will help reduce the vacancies left by a long list of closings at the mall in the past three years. Those headwinds persist, with a Saks Off 5th department store scheduled to close by the end of next month. Since 2014, Saks Off 5th has operated in an anchor pad covering more than 75,000 square feet across sections of the fourth and fifth levels.
Yards from the Saks Off 5th store, Starbucks shut down Oct. 3 its establishment at the mall. It was also located yards from a Michael Kors shop, which shuttered Sept. 25.
Still, Stamford Town Center’s management remains optimistic about the shopping center’s future.
“We’re making good progress,” Stamford Town Center General Manager Dan Stolzenbach said. “We’ve been successful bringing in several new concepts that appeal to the local community. Along with the new stores, Terra Gaucha and Puerto Vallarta will be wonderful new additions on our restaurant plaza. We will have more announcements to make in the coming weeks.”
