NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - 28-year-old Rosendo Duran of North Platte was arrested and taken to the Lincoln County Jail Friday afternoon after running from the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) and the Lincoln County Police Department, first by a pursuit in two separate stolen vehicles, and then on-foot.
NSP attempted to preform a traffic stop on the vehicle Duran was driving at 12:48 p.m., but Duran would not stop for the trooper at West Walker Road by Walker and Willow, according to NSP Trooper J.J. Connely.
A pursuit began and continued east on Walker to the area of the D&N Event Center. Duran drove through some fields, got off on Highway 83 and came in to town.
Trooper Connely said Duran hit another vehicle at Jeffers and Highway 83, then traveled to the McDonald’s parking lot where he abandoned the vehicle, which had California plates and was discovered to be stolen.
Duran took off running. Trooper Connely told News 2 that after running from the troopers, Duran stole a second vehicle, a pickup from a construction site, and headed into North Platte.
The North Platte Police Department was brought into the search by the Nebraska State Patrol, the NSP telling the police department that Duran had escaped in a second stolen vehicle and was headed into town.
Two officers with the North Platte Police Department found Duran in a house shortly after the stolen pickup was located. Duran came out of the home without force, and there were no injuries to anyone. Duran was checked by ambulance personal as a precaution. Officer Elder said he believe the people in the home where Duran was arrested were acquainted with him.
