Wenatchee Valley Under Wildfire Danger Saturday, Sunday – NewsRadio 560 KPQ - KPQ

tetekrefil.blogspot.com

There’s a “Fire Weather Watch” for the Wenatchee Valley from Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening, from 1 pm until 11 pm.

Beforehand, there’s a Red Flag Warning for the valley on Saturday from noon until 9 pm.

Both advisories are being made because of wind and low humidity that’ll be present in the area along with temperatures in the triple digits both days.

The advisories mean there could be rapid spread of new or existing fires.

The Wenatchee area has experienced two wildfires so far this season.

The Red Apple in July burned more than 12,000 acres and threatened 1,500 hundreds homes in Sunnyslope that were placed on varying levels of evacuation.

No homes were lost, but five outbuildings were damaged.

The Batterman Fire near Pangborn airport burned roughly 14,000 acres in early July.

Currently, the Nason Fire at Lake Wenatchee is burning about 103 acres in steep, dense forest. There are 43 personnel assigned to that fire, which is located in Chelan County about 60 northwest of Wenatchee.
