The latest exhibition at Exposition Park’s California Science Center is hot stuff. Literally.

But it will have kids seeking out cool solutions to the risk of fires in their own homes.

“Fire! Science & Safety” opens Friday, Oct. 29. The presentation, created in partnership with Children’s Burn Foundation, aims to teach kids about the fire risks that are present in our  houses and apartments, how simple changes can help to avoid those dangers and how to respond if a fire ignites.

The immersive exhibit is set in a “typical” Los Angeles home presented as a training site for young “fire danger detectives.” Visitors move from room to room, scrutinizing the fire risks in each and seeking out ways to reduce them.

“Fire! Science & Safety is a fresh approach to understanding the science of fire,” said Science Center President and CEO Jeffrey N. Rudolph. “Guests, especially children, can safely experience real-life fire hazards and learn preventive measures that can potentially save lives.”
