Why the Ravens are the AFC's most dangerous wild-card team
Lindsay Jones, NFL senior writer: The Ravens have found their groove just in time for the playoffs, and while their recent success surely says a lot about the teams they faced over the last month of the season, but they've provided quite the reminder of just how dangerous they can be when it's clicking. Of all the teams in the AFC wild-card field, the Ravens are the ones peaking at the perfect time. Jackson will give any opposing defensive coordinator nightmares heading into the postseason, but the Ravens' defense might be the reason they are able to win a game next weekend.
Who could be the AFC's X-factor?
Jones: Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen has earned whatever sort of MVP buzz he's gathered late this season, and while he almost certainly won't win that award, he has a chance to make a major statement about his career and the trajectory of the Bills in January. He's been playing better than any quarterback over the past month of the season, and his physical talents, the supreme confidence he's playing with right now and the excellent group of players around him makes him the AFC's player to watch.
What this playoff berth means for Browns
Zac Jackson, Browns beat writer: To Browns fans, ending the league's longest playoff drought means everything. It's just been too long. To the seven players still left from the 0-16 team in 2017, it also has deep personal meaning. But to the entire operation, this was always an attainable goal. It's been a wild season for multiple reasons, but the Browns early on established a run-first identity, and until Week 16 they won every game they were supposed to win. Are they ready to beat the varsity Steelers? We'll see, but this is a significant moment for the franchise.
