The so-called “lovable losers” ended their 107-year championship drought in 2016 after installing a new front office, tearing down and rebuilding the roster and renovating Wrigley Field to provide all of the modern amenities for players and staff. The Cubs’ cultural revolution worked so well, other organizations emulated them, leading to a plethora of rebuilds that many, including former Cubs President Theo Epstein, believe have hurt the game.
