STorm Tracker Forecast: Chilly with gusty winds & cricitcal Fire Danger Monday - Action News Now

tetekrefil.blogspot.com

Be prepared for chilly temperatures, gusty north winds, and high to critical fire danger on the way in your Monday forecast. Low pressure is dropping south into Nevada early today, and we have high pressure off the coast in the Pacific. The influence from the low pressure off to our east will keep our temperatures chilly, bring the potential for scattered mountain rain and snow showers, and will drive very strong north winds across northern California today and Tuesday. Limited scattered rain and snow showers will brush through our higher elevations today, but the big impact will be our strong winds. Gusty north winds and dry conditions will drive high fire danger today. A Red Flag Warning for high fire danger is set to stay in effect through 7pm Tuesday due to winds gusting up to 50mph out of the north and humidity in the 10 to 20 percent range today and Tuesday. A Wind Advisory is also in effect for the valley through 11pm Monday night. Freeze Watch has been issued for Trinity County Tuesday morning, and a Freeze Warning has been issued for the Sierra both Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. We're starting out with mostly clear skies Monday morning, but limited clouds and scattered showers are being observed in the Sierra and Cascades. Temperatures are starting out in the 40's to 50's in the valley and foothills, while mountain areas have dipped into the 30's to 40's overnight. Sustained winds will be out of the north up to around 35mph today, with gusts up to around 50mph Monday afternoon. Humidity is projected to dip into the 10 to 20 percent range this afternoon. High temperatures are only projected to top out in the mid 60's to lower 70's in the valley, upper 40's to lower 60's in the foothills, and mid 40's to upper 50's in our mountain zones this afternoon.

Winds will not be as strong on Tuesday, but will still be gusty enough to drive high fire danger across northern California. We'll have mostly sunny skies on Tuesday and temperatures will only end up 2 to 4 degrees warmer than Monday afternoon. Winds will really diminish late in the day Tuesday, and the Red Flag Warning for high fire danger is set to expire at 7pm Tuesday evening. There will be anorther chance for scattered rain and snow showers from late Tuesday evening through early in the day on Wednesday. Most showers are projected to stay in our higher elevations. We'll then dry out and have a modest warming trend on tap for the latter half of your work week. Valley areas will top out in the mid 70's on Thursday, and upper 70's to lower 80's on Friday. Foothill and mountain areas will climb back into the 60's to lower 70's from Thursday into Friday this week.

Models are keeping the warming trend going through Saturday, and mostly sunny skies for the first half of your weekend. Valley areas will top out in the low to mid 80's on Saturday, and then will dip back into the lower 80's under partly cloudy skies on Sunday. Foothill and mountain areas will range from the 60's to mid 70's through this weekend, and will also have an increase in clouds from Saturday into Sunday. The latest models are keeping us dry through this weekend, but more wet weather will be possible as we head into next week.
