Traffic stop: Columbia Road
Police stopped a car at 4:27 p.m. Sept. 12. He spoke to the passenger and gave him a verbal warning for sticking his head out of the sunroof while the car was traveling on the road. Fortunately, the passenger was not fiddling on the roof.
Speeding: Lindbergh Boulevard
An officer cited a motorist for speeding near the high-tension wires at 8:18 a.m. Sept. 9.
Fireworks: Elm Street
Police received complaints at 12:37 a.m. Sept. 10 about fireworks exploding in the area. Police found a pile of rockets that had been set off in an open field. The perpetrators, however, were gone.
Traffic stop: Lewis Road
An officer stopped a car at 10 a.m. Sept. 10 for not having a visible license plate. He also found that the motorist did not have a driver’s license.
The officer followed the driver across the tracks, since she was heading to a nearby job interview. The officer cited her for not having a license and warned her about the obstructed plate. A family member was on the way to pick her up after she parked the car, since she did not have a license.
Car crash: Sprague/Lindberg intersection
Police went to the location of a two-car crash at 3:55 a.m. Sept. 11. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was also there.
A woman at the scene was highly impaired. There were several cars at the crash site, with one of them off the roadway in a ditch. A tow truck was also at the accident, which the Highway Patrol handled.
Discharging weapons: River Road
Police received two calls at 1 p.m. Sept. 11 that someone was firing a gun in the area. The first caller said the shots had been occurring for about 15 minutes in rapid fire. They then stopped, but resumed after the person apparently reloaded the firearm.
A second caller said she heard about 40 to 50 shots behind her property.
Police found a car on the well road near Grace Church. He spoke with a resident, who pointed in the direction of an Olmsted Township home. The officer did not hear any gunshots.
The callers were told to contact police again if the shooting resumed.
Suspicious car: Columbia Road
An officer cited two people at 12:56 a.m. Sept. 12 for being in the city park after hours.
Parked car: Water Street
An officer at 9:06 p.m. Sept. 12 stopped at a parked car at the park. There were four teens in the car who were playing Pokemon. They were advised about the park closure and left the area.
Speeding: Columbia Road
An officer at 8:11 a.m. Sept. 15 cited a motorist for going 33 mph in a 25 mph school zone near Taylor Road.
Animal: Lewis Road
An officer helped a resident at 8:55 p.m. Sept. 15 who had lost a small dog. The dog was found within 15 minutes.
